EMMMA releases bold new single Burning Bridges

A statement of intent from rising voice Emmma

Alt-pop artist EMMMA has released her brand new single Burning Bridges, signalling the next chapter ahead of her second EP.

Fusing arpeggiated synth textures with her lilting, confessional vocal, Burning Bridges leans into EMMMA’s signature contrast of lush theatrical production and introspective songwriting. The track’s emotional arc reflects “the high of running away” — but rather than wallow in regret, it builds towards a message of self-forgiveness and learning.

EMMMA co-wrote the song with long-time producer Ben Wylen and Andrea Rosario, known for work with LAUV and Natalie Jane.  “I’ve definitely been convinced that everything going wrong in my life is my fault, and asked whether it’be different if hadn’made such hard and fast decision. ” says EMMMA. “But over the years, I’ve come to realise that it’s actually OK to burn a few bridges – it can be a way of healing.”

The track follows recent releases Cut The Breaks and Wednesday’s Child, and continues the Connecticut artist’s exploration of change, self-learning and emotional release. EMMMA’s earlier debut EP Secondary Character centred themes of courage, confidence and resisting pressure to stay quiet — themes she continues to revisit with growing lyrical force.  This time it’about realising that running away is nothing more than quick fix. Taking the longer road of examining your issues, coming to terms with them, and finding cathartic relief in expressing them is the harder but more rewarding approach.

The US-born artist, now gaining traction in the UK, recently toured here as a special guest of JC Stewart.  She has drawn comparisons with Holly Humberstone, Phoebe Bridgers and Chappell Road.
