For Those I Love confirm new album Carving The Stone and Manchester show

New album Carving The Stone tackles cultural crisis and class struggle

Dublin artist David Balfe, aka For Those I Love, has announced the release of Carving The Stone, his anticipated second album, due Friday 8 August 2025 via September Recordings. The new LP follows his acclaimed self-titled debut, which won Ireland’s Choice Music Prize and earned universal praise for its emotional depth and social commentary.

The project’s latest single, Mirror, debuted via Apple Music 1 and arrives alongside a powerful video directed by Niall Trask. Balfe’s voice is at its most urgent — blending radical polemic with poetic rage as he reflects on techno-feudalism and everyday violence. “See I’ve been knifed alive by mine, but wined and dined by those on high became the bigger crime to me, if I’m going to bleed then make me bleed with blade can see” he spits over thundering drums.

The album promises a take on what it feels like to be alive today in contemporary Dublin, social erosion caused by rising debut, insecure housing and dwindling hope.  The album will be released in several editions including CD, standard black LP, Irish exclusive coloured vinyl, indie exclusive, and a limited Dinked edition.

Carving The Stone follows previous singles Of The Sorrows and No Scheme, both accompanied by visual content. The full album tracklist includes:

  • Carving The Stone

  • No Scheme

  • The Ox / The Afters

  • Civic

  • Of The Sorrows
