No Joy release new single My Crud Princess
No Joy share My Crud Princess from forthcoming album
Canadian shoegazers No Joy have released their new single My Crud Princess, featuring Tara McLeod on guitar and banjo, Casey Schiebling on bass, and touring drummer Lana Cooney. The track is lifted from the band’s upcoming album Bugland. The album lands ahead of a run of UK tour dates which open with a Manchester gig at YES.
Speaking about the track, No Joy’s Jasamine White-Gluz said, “This song is granular. Like you are sifting through deep soil and coming out just covered in crud but still feeling cute. Going a little feral while still trying to maintain composure because you’re in public. Lyrically, we are searching, waiting and hoping for something or someone – until we finally find it and start to build ourselves into the silt we’ve been digging through. This is for all my other Crud Princesses who like to get dirty!”
The single arrives alongside a visualiser directed by Maxwell Zikakis.
Bugland marks No Joy’s first new album in five years and sees White-Gluz collaborate with co-producer Fire-Toolz. The record was inspired in part by White-Gluz’s move to rural Quebec, influencing its sonic landscape and reflective tone. “The collaboration really felt limitless,” says Fire-Toolz. “I could easily relate to it because Jasamine and I liked a lot of the same music, and I was able to be creative in ways that were freeing as if I was making my own album.”
