Kool & the Gang announce Manchester Arena gig

The legendary Grammy Award winners Kool & the Gang have announced a huge Manchester Arena gig.

They return to the city in July for the first time in 15 years for the Manchester gig.

Kool & the Gang have performed continuously longer than any other R&B group in history with their funk and jazz arrangements making them one of the most sampled R&B banks of all time.  Iconic songs including Celebration, Get Down On It, Cherish, Jungle Boogie, Summer Madness and Open Sesame have brought them two Grammy Awards, seven American Music Awards, a BET Soul Train Lifetime Achievement Award and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.  They have also landed 25 Top Ten R&B hits, nine Top Ten Pop hits and 31 gold and platinum albums.

Celebrating a major milestone last year, the band were inducted into the Class of 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. This momentous occasion honoured their significant contributions to the music industry and enduring impact on the genre, recognising their past successes as well as their ongoing influence.

With six decades of hits, the internationally celebrated group released their critically acclaimed 34th studio album People Just Wanna Have Fun in 2023. The 15-track project, which is helmed by founding members bassist Robert “Kool” Bell and keyboardist-drummer George “Funky” Brown, follows the release of their single, Let’s Party featuring Sha Sha Jones.
