The Subways release reworked Rock & Roll Queen ahead of new album and Manchester gig
The Subways celebrate 20 years of Young For Eternity with new music and live dates
The Subways have released a brand new version of Rock & Roll Queen, the defining single from their 2005 debut Young For Eternity. The reworked track arrives ahead of the band’s upcoming compilation album When I’m With You, due Friday 17 October 2025, and a full UK tour including a Manchester gig at Band On The Wall.
The new version captures the energy of the original while introducing fresh dynamics, including a heavier breakdown and a raw new vocal take from Billy Lunn. “I always think of Rock & Roll Queen as the song that’s taken us around the world,” said Charlotte Cooper. With Billy Lunn adding “It was punk, it was pop, it was everything we loved about music,” added Billy Lunn. Meanwhile Camille Phillips said, “It’s always completely impossible for it not to be contagious.”
The track is accompanied by a new visual combining live clips from Deichbrand, Open Flair and a shoot at Gorilla in Manchester.
